Become a Freedom Fighter

People often ask me, how did I transform myself from an everyday, conservative executive into being super fit, a surf chic, world traveler, fitness model and business owner?

When I think back, sure there were decisions I made and steps I took – but it all really began with starting to fight for my freedom. Read on carefully because this could mean the difference between living your life always feeling like you have missed your best or living life to your full personal potential…..and beyond.

The dictionary defines a freedom fighter as anyone who fights for the cause of freedom. Usually we hear the term in reference to armed forces or resistance movements fighting for political freedom.

But today, we are talking about your personal freedom; the right to live out your life as the real person you are, free from past bad experiences, stifling social expectations, physical limitations, materialism and debt.

Maybe sitting where you are today this sounds like a pie in the sky dream. Maybe you are at work in a job you hate, at home in your baggies listening to the kids watching TV, maybe it’s late at night after getting home (again) from a long exhausting day, maybe you just got dealt a big disappointment or maybe you just can’t shake that feeling…there must be something better. I am here to tell you there is.

It all starts with simply realizing – no matter where you are today you have the freedom to think how you wish. No one “owns” what goes on inside your head; your thoughts are your property. And the right thoughts will lead to better decisions and then to life changing actions. So get ready to starting thinking a little differently.

Emotional Freedom

You have the right to be happy, enjoy good feelings, be loved and love. Begin to let go of past bad experiences that are undermining your sense of self-worth. Refuse to allow doubt and fear rule your life. Don’t let the past keep stealing from your present and your future.

You don’t have to accept controlling and manipulative relationships as “normal”. You are valuable and important and believing someone that tells you any different is allowing yourself to be emotional imprisoned.

There are many people who have come through horrific experiences and gone on to lead tremendously fulfilling lives. Be inspired by them, be courageous.

Physical Freedom

Whether it’s being overweight, unfit or unwell you don’t have to accept your current condition. You deserve to feel great, full of energy, strong and alive! Start where you are at today by taking one small step. Maybe you need to see your doctor about that nagging problem or just getting a check up for the first time in years. Maybe you need to cut back on the alcohol or give up smoking. Get that gym membership you’ve been thinking about and sacrifice a little in other areas so you can afford it. You will thank yourself for it down the track.

Sexual Freedom

It’s doesn’t matter if you’ve been married 20 years or been single 20 years – we all have a deep need to express ourselves sexually. Just “going through the motions” isn’t good enough. And sex just isn’t about your body, it’s about what goes on inside your head. What turns you on……no I mean, really turns you on. The answer for each of us will be different, but just thinking about it will start to make you feel…..free. Sexual freedom just isn’t about “sex”..…it’s about getting in touch with the real you at your deepest level, your erotic self. It may be scary expressing those feelings and desires for the first time but it will be exhilarating. And you may be surprised where it may lead. At a minimum you will feel a new level of empowerment that will flow into other areas of your life.

Financial Freedom

Many of our financial systems are designed to imprison you with debt and very little savings. Credit cards, loans, taxes and disincentives to work harder. And we allow bad financial habits to dominate; emotional spending, keeping up with the Joneses, being wasteful for no reason (which is different to enjoying luxury) and refusing to sacrifice something today to save up for something better tomorrow (delayed gratification).

Start with just one area of your finances and make a change. Begin keeping a monthly budget to track where your personal spending goes. Start a special savings account (just for you). No matter what your status, single, married, divorced or widowed, you need your own personal financial plan and resources. It is a very important part of your freedom fighter journey.

Freedom for Life

Being a freedom fighter means resisting the forces at work in the world that are trying to imprison you. It may be past bad experiences, a current abusive relationship, feeling miserable at work, being a slave to a secret bad habit or allowing people tell you what to do and who you should be.

But fighting for your freedom doesn’t just mean freedom from bad influences and situations. It also means, fighting for your right to be happy, feel amazing, be physically fulfilled on all levels and free to follow your own life path, your aspirations and dreams.

Your personal life happiness is worth fighting for no matter who you are, where you are or what your circumstances.

Start being a freedom fighter today.

Hi Belinda,

I love this. Every sentence I read in this blog resonated with me on some level. Its easy to have ‘flat’ days in life and to forget that the only person that can change that is me, especially starting witn the words that I say to myself in my head.

You really are cool, you know that! :)

Cheers
Miriam.

Lovely to hear from you Miriam

You are so right, if it is to be…it’s up to me! Very simple, but very true. When things are tough I remind myself of this…instead of waiting for someone to help me – I pull myself up by the bootstraps and just do something – ANYTHING – to try and improve the situation and very soon, I’m feeling better and a solution starts to present itself!

Hi Belinda,

Hi Belinda,

You are a true inspiration to me! I look forward to improving my life and striving toward a full fledged FREEDOM FIGHTER! I need work in each area….some more than others. I have taken measures to kick up my work out routine a notch this week. I did your flour routine twice already! I also have been buying more things with cash and it feels great! I know there are two other areas that need work and this will require some soul searching.

You look amazing in your photo shoots! You are truly age defying! (I am 45) That would be my dream….to look like you : ) I am training hard I will send you some picture soon.

Take care and Thank you!

Andrea

Hello Andrea, thank you! This is a constant work in progress for me also. Sometime one area progresses along nicely and others lag – that is normal. But as long as you keep going in the right direction overall. So awesome to hear you are doing my floor routine (more to come and let me know about your progress) and fantastic on buying things with CASH! It does feel great – to have that control and know exactly where you stand financially. Yes please send me some pictures soon!! Belinda xo

I’m so glad I made the switch to becoming a personal trainer. It was terrifying to give up that weekly guaranteed paycheck, but knowing I’m making a difference in people’s lives doing what I love makes it all worthwhile.

I know the feeling! But like you said, the rewards are way beyond a guaranteed paycheck. All the best with building your business into something very very successful!

PS. I starting learning to surf and had my 3rd lesson today. I’m 37 (same age as when you started ) – though my wetsuit fits me like a glove. I was thinking of you as I’m getting smashed in the face by the waves trying to get out there to catch a good one. My husband was out there with me (he’s an incredible surfer) so I had lots of support. The best reward was the smile on his face when he saw me surfing on the wall of the wave. Felt excellent!!! Thanks for the inspiration xxx Nikki

Hi Nikki, wow that is awesome news about your surfing!!! Woohooo! Nothing like the smile that comes from surfing the face of the wave! That made my day to know I have inspired you :)

Hi Belinda, Wow reading everyone’s post I’m really inspired by all the stories. I’m very grateful to have found your program and I’ve declared my fight for freedom as of last week. I’ve joined the Transformation with Bill Phillips Summer Challenge and doing the work from the inside out to make a sustainable change. Your post just affirms all the positive things that I’m on the path to discovering and finding incredible liberation in all areas of my life. I’m starting with the emotional and physical combined. I’m reading through your program and can’t wait to feel and see the results and continue to work hard for them. Forever a fan, Nikki (Australia)

Hi Niki – I can feel your energy and determination, I am inspired myself now! I love how you wrote “incredible liberation”; that is exactly how it feels when you start to realize change like this can revolutionize your life, in more ways than you ever dreamed of. Thank you for sharing here and please keep me up to date everything….the best is yet to come for sure!

Thank you so much Belinda. I have been to hell and back in the last month. I had it all a month a go but my world has come crashing down on me. My husband of 21 years walked out on me and our children stating that he didn’t want to have the responsibility of a family any more and then my beautiful dog got killed a few days later. I was sitting here crying this morning reading your blog. I know I can do this. Life is full of experiences that only make you stronger. I am starting my journey again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hi Jodi, I was compelled to write this post because I knew some people really needed to read it. You are one of them. When something horrible happens suddenly, like your husband walking out – we go into shock which is made even worse when other things go wrong just because we don’t have the resources to cope like we used to. It’s so hard to imagine that life could feel better again. But it will get better and I know it’s hard to imagine sitting there today, but it can be better than it’s ever been! First things first though, you need to reach out and get support for going through this next phase ahead! I am sure there are many people around you that care very much and who will help you begin your new journey. Please let me know how things go, I am thinking of you. Belinda

Dear Belinda,

Yesterday I started playing piano again…it’s been a very long time. This morning I woke up and found this blog. So perfect in every way. You have touched on every area of my being that longs to be free again. Imprisoned, but I have the key. Thank you for believing in me FIRST.

I have told you this on several occasions, but your story runs so parallel to mine, it is if I am watching a movie of things that are to be…, if I just “step into faith”, and let go of “fear”. I am forever thankful to you and your beautiful spirit.

Best,
Laura “Ottobahn” Hynek

Hello Laura, so wonderful to hear from you. That is awesome you have started playing the piano again :) Music is so therapeutic. For me, like working out, it allows me to disconnect from everything, unwind and get in touch with my inner creative energy. I remember your story well from your emails. It’s so great to get an update. Thank you, I am sure the best is yet to come!

Belinda you are amazing! Beautiful as always and a total inspiration! I really need motivation to get back in the gym. This modern life there is way too many distractions! My nimber one problem is I love playing my guitar/singing and writing songs! I just need to get my act together and get my “fitness life” back in order!

Lotsa love

Hey Justin! Yes you need to get back to the gym lol 😉 it isn’t easy balancing everything, I find it hard myself. I have started writing all my workouts, swims etc on a monthly calendar that I hang beside my computer. That way I can visually see my commitment and progress….it is working!

Thank you Belinda for creating this blog and inspiring other people to have the success you have! It is a great idea to help people understand that everything is connected and it is all about taking responsibility for our emotions, thoughts, believes and actions. If we want different results we should take different actions!

I also have to mention my personal opinion. I like to experience high vibration feelings like love, compassion, gratitude, that is what makes me feel free and experience freedom in my life. I experienced success as a fighter for many years. I was good at it but my body was not happy. I am in a stage in my life to experience success through gratitude. Using positive words, thoughts and emotions higher than 500 in vibration, clearing my subconscious mind from believes that are not serving my goals and my purpose in life, clearing the destructive cellular memory is the path I am choosing.

Thank you for encouraging people to wake up!

Hello Ioana, and thank you for sharing. I love your thoughts about “waking up”- it is like that sometimes when we make an adjustment in our thinking. I also try to be grateful everyday for all the good things that have been given to me. Thanks for the reminder….

Belinda I just wanted to say that this was a brilliant blog. It is covers all the important things in life. My main thing is happiness. I have had financial freedom, I have had fitness freedom (which is an on going project seeing I lost 40 kilos) , I now am aiming for emotional freedom. Happiness is the main thing I want out of life and then the rest will come easily.

Hi Kylee, wow that is fascinating to hear the stages of your fight for freedom. For me it started with emotional freedom, then physical, then sexual and now financial! I can’t wait to read more comments here from others and learn about everyone’s experiences. Congratulations on losing 40 kg’s, that is incredible. If you can do that, you can do anything! xoxo
