We talked a little bit about these annoying little things in the chapter on The 6 Critical Secrets Successful People Master.

On your Transformation journey you will run into moments when you’re tempted to just give up and slide back into your comfort zone. Why is that?

Why do we stop ourselves from really going for what we want and deserve in life? We know that it’s possible, whatever our goals are. We see other people that have achieved what we want to achieve so it’s certainly possible. And, there’s even a part of us that knows that it’s possible for us too.

So, why do we settle for going back to what’s “normal” when “normal” isn’t really what we want?

Funny enough – it often goes back to some fear that we’ve been carrying around for years. And often, that fear is more in our minds than anything else.

You see, people spend a lot or time worrying about something that may or may not happen…and most often that “thing” never happens so all we’ve done is use up a lot of energy worrying. Too bad all that worrying isn’t burning calories! If that were the case then nobody would have to give a single thought to dieting, right?

This is what I would like you to do today.

Write down 5 things that you’re afraid of. Don’t worry, you can’t get this wrong and I will not be grading you on it!

Next, I want you to think of a positive affirmation that will overcome that fear. Here’s an example of what that could look like:

Fear: I’m afraid that I won’t be able to resist those pastries I love so much

Affirmation: I can easily look at a pastry without the desire to eat it!

Finally, I want you to think of a strategy or habit that you can incorporate to help make that happen. For example, let’s say that you are in the habit of eating a pastry with your morning coffee. It’s a ritual, a habit. What healthy alternative can you switch to that will make the whole process less painful and more empowering? Does it have to be a pastry? Maybe what you really love is that morning ritual and not so much the pastry. Maybe what you really enjoy is the time that you spend with friends or family at the start of the day.

Keep the ritual if you want, just switch out the pastry for a healthy alternative like the Zucchini Muffins in the Get Lean Bonus Recipe Book or some Baked Apples from the Get Lean Celebrations Cookbook.

Little by little, day by day, those little mind shifts are going to effortlessly lead you to your goal!
