Metabolic Cooking (for dummies)

By now you would know, that although I love to cook – I hate the kitchen. In other words, I would rather be in the gym than washing dishes.  And sometimes I just don’t have the time or patience to pull out something new to cook.  I know many of you feel the same, so keep reading!

Those of you on my Get Lean Program already know that there are many natural fat burning foods that can stimulate your metabolism.  Not only that, you can super-charge their thermogenic fat burning effect by combining some of these foods in one meal.

I want to introduce you to my good friend and fitness fanatic Karine.  We first met through her partner, Dave Ruel who has become famous in the industry for his culinary skills.  I am so impressed with their Metabolic Cookbook that I asked Karine for an interview.

Belinda:  Hi Karine, thank you so much for letting me test out your new Metabolic Cookbook.  I have to be honest – I would rather be in the gym than the kitchen so your recipes have been a God-send over the last couple of months since things have got really crazy for me.

But first, please tell everyone the story behind this cookbook and how you have been involved in it’s creation!


Well I first got interested in healthy cooking when I met Dave. He is a well know fitness cooking expert and LOVES FOOD! On my end, I love to stay lean and in shape.

In addition to all this, I’ve also have a Masters degree in psychology. I’ve had the opportunity to deal with a lot of people with weight problems, so it’s really easy for me to understand the kinds of things they go through.  This is partially what led to my large desire to come up with healthy recipes that were easy to prepare, tasted great, and would help people burn fat.


Dave loved the project idea and it’s how we decided to create Metabolic Cooking.

Belinda:   OK now listen, you are TINY and in amazing shape.  I want to know how you do it when you have to test and try out all these mouth watering recipes!


ahah! It’s actually very easy as we created Metabolic Cooking with the best metabolism boosting ingredients combinations we could come up with. I’m honest, I do eat a lot, but the fact that I eat a lot of food with a high “Metabolic Thermo-Charge” helps me stay fit. I also love to exercise, if I’m not in the gym, I’m outside jogging or just walking to the mall (yes, I love to shop! I’m a real girl!!)

Belinda:  Right, now take the jargon out of it for us by explaining “Metabolic Cooking” what does that really mean – no fluff, just the real deal details please.


Metabolic Cooking has been designed specifically to  supercharge your metabolic rate so that fat loss progresses along much more quickly despite the fact that you still get to eat satisfying, delicious meals.

In short it’s a series of cookbooks filled with recipes that will boost your metabolism for faster fat loss, as simple as that :)

Belinda:  So, what is the difference between just a collection of recipes and a “cookbook”?  What are people going to get that makes yours so special and who is it for?  Don’t hold back – tell us everything!

Karine: It doesn’t matter if you have three pounds to lose or 30 (or more!), you will without a doubt benefit from these recipes both in terms of them helping you attain a state of maximum health and helping you lose body fat quickly.

It’s not just your typical healthy cookbook… When we first designed Metabolic Cooking, we had a wide variety of people in mind. We thought about those who were struggling with diets but couldn’t stick with them because they were bored to tears with the bland foods they were currently sentenced to on that approach, we thought about those who had an ultra slow metabolism from years and years of very low calorie dieting that really starved their body for nourishment, and we thought about those people who wanted to lose weight so badly but just couldn’t give up the pleasure they had in the process of eating. They wanted high-taste and weren’t willing to give it up. Oh, and we also thought about high level athletes as well. Even though most of these people are already in good shape, we know that many of them want to take things to the next level and really enhance their physique.

All of the above individuals were kept in mind when coming up with these cookbooks and all of them will benefit. These cookbooks are literally for everyone!

Belinda:  Awesome!  Last question and one I know we are all thinking.  Specifically how did this Metabolic Cookbook help you personally, with your physical conditioning and your training?  And we demand a body shot for verification please!  😉


Eating recipes that help me boost my metabolism help me everyday! Honestly it helps me stay in better shape year round. Even though I never was out of shape, I am in way better shape now that I’ve mastered the art of cooking with the right ingredients. I feel a lot better too, more energetic and healthy.


Here are pictures that I took only a couple months apart, without even dieting and barely watching how much I was eating, just by starting to cook with the Metabolic Cooking methods Dave and I developed.

Hi Anne – wow you have the whole shebang crikey! Well almost. Dave Ruel has another cookbook called “Anabolic Cooking” focusing more on nutrition for training and muscle development (check if that is what you have). The “Metabolic Cooking” is different being more about stimulating your fat burning metabolism which was only released on the market today! If you already have that one also just email me direct and I will let you know how to get my Top 20 Snacks! xoxo
