Have you ever spent hours in the gym trying to improve your flabby inner thighs, saggy butt or cellulite spots – only to be bitterly disappointed at your beach holiday photos? Have you ever wondered if you’re doing the right exercises to target those female specific trouble zones? If so, you might find the story of how I got started in the gym enlightening.
I’d never been in a gym until my early 40’s. Even then, I had no idea what I was doing. In fact, I used to workout after being at the pool with my wet bikini under my clothes and wearing flip-flops! Lucky this was Panama where pretty much anything goes.
But when I decided to get serious and see what was possible if I really put my mind to it, I found Evelio, a trainer from Columbia who had worked with some of the top bodybuilders. Despite my Spanish and his non-existent English we made a great team and he trained me as hard as any of his male competitors (thank you Evelio, I miss you!).
But after my first competition, I noticed some very specific areas that just weren’t responding no matter what I did: the upper back of my legs, lower butt, inner thigh and lower abs.
You can probably add to these female specific trouble zones, things like the outer thigh area (saddlebags), under arms, back fat and saggy skin and other places you’d rather not think about.
To my frustration, after busting my butt in the gym – these problem areas were only marginally improved when compared to the rest of my body. This was the start of my mission to discover the most potent and powerful exercises to improve these female specific trouble zones (by the way, yes men and women do need to train differently – simply because their goals are different)!
