How to Tighten and Tone Your Inner & Outer Thighs (video)

Have you ever spent hours in the gym trying to improve your flabby inner thighs, saggy butt or cellulite spots – only to be sadly disappointed when you look in the mirror?  Have you ever wondered what exercises you really should be doing – to target your trouble zones?  Keep reading!

Living in Panama, Central America for 8 years I had very little access to the training resources I wanted.  And to my frustration – problem areas like my saddlebags were only marginally improved when compared to the rest of my body.  So it was through my own trial and error that I discovered the exact exercises to improve these female specific trouble zones (by the way, yes men and women do need to train differently – simply because their goals are different)!

Maybe you’ve exercised all your life but just can’t get rid of those last few pounds or stubborn cellulite. Maybe you’re a personal trainer who can never get really lean yourself. Or maybe you’ve just very unhappy with your body and have almost given up hope.

Imagine working out, knowing what you’re doing is laser targeting those stubborn problem areas?  Imagine how motivated you’d feel, how inspired and how rewarding it will be to look in the mirror in just a few weeks and see the difference.

Let me share what I discovered just a few years ago….

We have around 200 key muscles that support, shape and firm our body. Without proper stimulation these muscles become weak, mushy and flaccidResulting in a body that is saggy, spongy, disproportioned and cellulite-prone.

But by stimulating these muscles with the correct exercises you can laser target your female specific trouble zones to:

– Lift and firm your butt

– Tighten your inner & outer thighs

– Lean out your legs

– Flatten and define your tummy

– Tone your arms and back

To create a beautifully balanced, defined and lean physique.  No more cellulite, no more saggy skin, no more jiggly bits.

Imagine being able to buy and wear whatever you want. Able to look in the mirror and love what you see.  To feel completely confident when naked knowing you look incredible.

It might seem simple enough but if done right you’ll feel your body immediately starting to change shape, firm up and get lean.  The secret lies in doing specific exercises with the right form, done at the correct speed, in the ideal sequence to build strong, lean, fat burning muscle – guaranteed to get your dream body.

These exercises use very specialized and specific movements to work the muscles in ways traditional gym workouts cannot.  They stimulate the deep muscle fiber layers, targeting them for both stabilization and strength.  This is the secret to re-shaping our body from the inside out.

Let me show you an example how this works, focusing on the troublesome inner and outer thigh area.r

Inner-Outer Thigh Toning Workout

It’s exercises just like this that make up the exact system that enabled me to transform my body mid-life from flabby, spongy and saggy. To being lean and toned with firm, smooth cellulite-free skin.

Even at 50 years of age I’m in the best shape of my life – and I intend to stay like this forever.  And I know how to help you do the same.

You don’t have to accept second best, average or anything less than the great body you desire and deserve.  Don’t be like most women and just give up and accept from here it’s a downhill slide…..

This is NOT what I want for you and I know it’s not what you desire for yourself.

It’s time to feel good in your own skin again….really good. Imagine what that would feel like and how it would change your life.  That’s true transformation.

Today, stop and think about how you’ve been working outif you don’t know what exercises to do in order to target your female specific problem zones then how can you expect your body to change?  It’s just hit and miss – shooting in the dark.  Tons of time and energy putting your body through the wringer and hoping (and praying) you come the other side looking better.

There’s a more effective, easier and efficient way to get results.

Hello Belinda,

I tried your workout for leaner thighs, I am 73 and the toe squats were a no no since I have arthritic toes on my left foot. Anything else you could recommend???? Otherwise I workout every other day with weights, also trying to reform the backs of the arms known as batwings as we get older any suggestions?

Belinda February 15, 2018 at 2:20 pm

Hi there Belinda

For someone who is starting to workout again (I currently ride horses), which programme would be better? The good bye cellulite or the get lean? I want to start cooking again but am a total beginner with limited time and need easy recipes without weird ingredients! I am 45.

Thanks in advance

Good evening from London, I’m an almost 43 year old female who works out 4-5 times a week. I do most beachbody workouts- insanity, insanity max, p90x3, doubles on T25 and others such as UFC fit. I understand that it’s about how you workout not about how long etc. I also eat very healthy…….most of the time! I have had a progressing issue with sugar intake ( can easily eat 2 big bags of haribo a day) and portion control. I’ll be great for a week or 2 and then it’ll go downhill. My jeans don’t fit anymore and My mid and lower section are getting flabby :-( 10stone 10 and 5’07”. I’m in proportion but I know I can be SO much better as I’ve been there not so long ago. I’m good at following a rigid routine but need something to keep me motivated and challenged when it comes to the workouts. Do you think your 90 day get lean programme will work for me? How long are your routines and can I do them at home?
Thank you

Belinda October 23, 2015 at 10:55 pm

Hello Alex, lovely to meet you. A lot of women struggle with the things you mention; they know what to do, but just can’t seem to stay on track, keep their portions in check and be consistent. YES, the 90 Day Get Lean Program will work for you – it will help you manage your portions sizes, what to eat and when – plus when to have your treats. All the workouts are under and hour, averaging between 30-45 minutes and can be done with minimal or no equipment. I used to be addicted to sugar so developed the program to help control cravings and energy dips so in that sense it will help you as well. As part of the program you’ll also get my personalized guidance and support putting together the right weekly workout program for your body and goals. I hope this answers your questions – I love to see you on the program and work together to get your best body back!! Bel XO PS. If you decide to go ahead please message me so I can guide you on the steps to getting started easily and quickly.

Una Bartley August 7, 2015 at 2:52 pm

Can you please confirm what equipment is needed or is it best to join a gym.
Before having my life reprioritised with having kids, I trained out eþvery morning before work. My body now needs to seriously tone, not really lose weight but tone.
Please advise.

Belinda August 8, 2015 at 12:49 am

Hi Una,

Many of my workouts require no equipment and can be done at home. The others use a few free weights and a step. I’ve coached many women like you who need to firm, tone and lift – yet not necessarily lose a lot of weight. In your case, this is about doing the right exercises to develop your muscle density (tone) to reshape your body from the inside out. Exercises that specifically target the trouble zones of the female body. I’d love to work with you and hope to see you on the program :) Bel xo PS. please check out my Get Lean Program.

Ruth June 2, 2015 at 9:38 am

Hi :)

This is a fantastic site. I had lost quite a lot of weight a while ago (year and a half) which I have kept off. (Around 2 and a half stone) but my cellulite was a lot worse and my skin and body looked very saggy and out of shape as I hadn’t been exercising enough.
Recently I have started a new regime of keeping track of what I eat, exercising a lot (cardio, strength and exercise classes) and I have also been following the cellulite reduction programme (almost a month now) which I am happy to say is beginning to show results. I don’t feel like this is a diet, rather my new approach to life!
I do however, have a problem with fat pockets at the side of my knees and skin above my knees which is unsightly and does not seem to be going away…..
Could you offer any advice? I would really appreciate any exercise specific tips :)
Many thanks. Ru x

Belinda June 3, 2015 at 12:55 am

Hi Ruth, thank you!

Well done on losing that weight. What you experienced with the cellulite looking worse is quite common when you lose weight but don’t build up the muscle tone to support the skin. So I am very happy to hear you’re seeing results from the cellulite reduction workout now. I love how you’re approaching this as a lifestyle not a diet – wonderful to hear.

Re the fat above the knee, this is a common problem. One of the best exercises I’ve found for this is the curtsy squat and the asymmetrical squat which I include in this workout: Inner-Outer Thigh Toning.

I hope this helps!

Ruth June 3, 2015 at 2:06 am

Hi :)

Thank you so much !

I actually attempted the Inner-Outter thigh workout this morning after I had been to the gym before I had read your reply and found it to be quite challenging.
I take this as a good sign to mean the muscles in the targeted areas must be very weak. Great to know the exercises will also benefit the knee area. I will persevere and see how I get on. Thanks again for the advice.

Ru x

Miff June 17, 2014 at 8:06 am

I have MS & several other health problems but I eat clean as possible but I seriously need help tong up flabby stomach, inner thighs/upper arms in fact all over even neck Iam 166cms tall & weigh about 60kgs which is overweight for my height I have hashimotos which also makes weight fluctuation a nightmare. Any recs to what I can do gently but effectively . Thanks so much .

Belinda June 17, 2014 at 3:37 pm

Hi Miff, I am really sorry to hear about your health problems – and it’s great to hear you eat clean. With the specifics of your health challenges, this falls outside the scope of my experience so I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending something, I think your health provider/physio would be able to help. I will say that floor exercises that support your body (joints, ligaments and tendons), while using gravity to lift your body gently off the floor would make sense. Maybe as a starting point some gentle Pilates could be fun and beneficial – but run it past your doctor first!

I hope this helps and good on your for posting and reaching out for help, I believe some gentle activity will make a big difference to the quality of your life.

Hug, Bel

Em December 29, 2013 at 10:18 pm

Hi Belinda,
I’m about to turn 50 and suddenly I have piled weight on and NOTHING is getting it off”…clearly it is menopausal. What can I do? It feels impossible and my adrensls are too exhausted to do strenuous exercice, I feel like giving in to middle age but I’m not ready!!

Belinda December 29, 2013 at 10:39 pm

Hi Em, I hear you. The dramatic hormonal fluctuations approaching 50 can play havoc with your metabolism, energy levels and health. Suddenly, what you used to eat is now piling on the weight and to make matters worse, you have way less energy. Don’t give in or give up. Eating healthy and exercising still is the absolute best solution to getting your best body and feeling great – but it’s going to require a new level of commitment and focus. I know right now you feel like you don’t have the resources to dig that deep but believe me, you’ll be glad you did because once you breakthrough and start getting your weight down, your body will find it easier to adjust to the hormonal fluctuations. Next April I’ll be releasing my new Super Sexy Skin Program which includes a hormonal optimizing eating plan – which is ideal for you. Keep your eye out for that. I’d also recommend my Bodyweight Workouts – which are short but intense, allow you to workout at home and burn fat while building lean tight muscle to tone your body from the inside out. I hope this helps! Bel xoxo

Stephanie January 8, 2014 at 10:16 pm

Hi Bel!
I’m turning 33 in May and I’m just in remission from Lyme disease – finally over it, thank God!! Consequently, a few years of lying in bed has given me a rather sobering case of flabby muscles and lots of cellulite to torch, and I’m wondering what you would recommend to someone in my condition. I can’t push myself too hard as I need to be SUPER careful with my adrenals/cortisol levels/hormones. My tendency is to overtrain. I just started Joey’s Naked Beauty cellulite program, but I know I’ll need more than this to get me in wicked shape. My belly is naturally flat, but my thighs, above-knee area, butt, hips, inner thighs ALL have cellulite – EWW!!! How can I safely transform this fragile body of mine and get killer results?
Also, is there a way I can do your Get Lean program from home?? Do I have to invest in all kinds of weights, or can I get YOUR kind of results just using my body weight???

Thank you kindly from Kentucky!!

Belinda January 8, 2014 at 10:41 pm

Hi Stephanie, sorry to hear about the Lyme disease – crikies that must have been an unexpected shock, thank goodness you’ve recovered. Coming through that experience must have taken a lot of courage. I bet you’ll never take your health for granted again.

Joey’s program is ideal, so stick with that.

Yes you can do my program from home, there are a wide range of bodyweight workouts that require no equipment and some especially target those female trouble zones you mention. I would be guided by your doctor in terms of what’s ideal for your weekly routine. If you feel like you coping OK with Joey’s program and you want to start on upper body and core – and then advance your lower body in due course – AND you have the OK from your doc, then Get Lean is great. The thing about bodyweight is that the range of motion and level of exertion corresponds more naturally to your strength and fitness levels with reduced risk of injury (from using heavy weights or incorrect form) when compared to traditional gym based workouts. The most important aspect is to take things step by step. Just gradually increase the intensity and monitor your health (with the help of your doctor) and listen to your body; if you’re feeling good, sleeping well and your energy levels are great – then you’re on the right path, if not, then time to pull back a little. Make sense?

I hope this helps and good on your for coming this far – now that you’ve turned the corner I have a feeling there will be no holding you back!

Julie October 8, 2013 at 6:03 am

Its ok now, it started to work :) I am 54 & unfit & stiff, do you think its too late for me to start exercising ?

Belinda October 8, 2013 at 6:17 am

Woahhhh! It’s NEVER too late!! Crikies! 54 is still very young :)

Hey there are tons of girls in their 20’s and 30’s who are unfit and stiff lol! You can change your body and get fit and strong (no matter what your age, fitness level or body type) – to dramatically improve your health, happiness and quality of life :) :)

You can do anything if you really want it enough!

P.S. If you decide to get serious about your fitness please check out my Get Lean Program and if you join, please let me know so I can personally recommend the right starting program.

julie October 7, 2013 at 7:33 pm

Hi Belinda,

I’ve engaged you on your blog before and your answer was really helpful for my question at the time. After reading this article I’ve a few more questions…

I have quite pronounced cellulite for my age and have had since 16 although I’m not or have ever been overweight. I also have a clean, balanced diet, with additional supplements etc. After doing lots of research I’ve come to the conclusion that the biggest contributing factor to my cellulite is that I just have quite thin skin on my thighs compared to the rest of my body. I wanted to know if you’ve come across anything in your years of experience that can help to build the elasticity of the skin in the body? I’m not sure how building muscle tone affects the elasticity of the skin itself? Obviously cellulite is more than just thin skin, but for me I think the ‘thin skin’ makes the adipose tissue pushing through the sparse connective tissue more pronounced.
Cheers :-)
Hope my question makes sense

Belinda October 7, 2013 at 7:52 pm

Hi Julie :)

Yes your question makes complete sense. There are a few factors at play when it comes to the appearance of cellulite.

Having worked in the skincare industry for 10 years, I’ve seen a diverse range of skin types and observed how those affect different conditions like aging and cellulite. A good diet, avoiding sun exposure plus regular massage and exfoliation will all optimize the condition of your skin and help improve elasticity. Personally, I am a huge fan of regular exfoliation which encourages skin cell renewal and detoxifies through stimulating blood and lymph circulation.

These things will help and are what I recommend to my clients, but by far, building muscle density is the most effectively way to improve the appearance of the surface skin in regards to cellulite.

I hope this helps!
